T-6G and AT-6D Texan Trainers
REAL AIRCRAFT FUSELAGE SECTIONS, multiple airframe variants

Aerocraft Procurement

In 2020 the Aerocraft team located the tubular remains of two T-6 Texan aircraft in various states of disrepair.  The aircraft cockpits were transported to our shop for restoration.

Identifying Use Case Specifications

Aerocraft decided to build one of the Texans as a T-6G and the other as a AT-6D.  These two variants are the most commonly operated Texan models today.  These will be the first ever fully simulated T-6 simulator cockpits ever made.

 cockpit Restoration

The cockpits resided in tropical outdoor storage with no protection from the elements for decades before we obtained them.  The team disassembled and evaluated the components.  Using original source documents we restored the metal components to their original state.  Material such as wood, pressboard, and fabric which was received in various states of decay were reproduced and replaced.

MODIFICATION OF REAL COMPONENTS

There is a non existent supply of T-6 family simulator components.  Aerocraft embraced the challenge and decided that we would modify many real aircraft components.  Switches integrated to logic controllers, instruments gutted and driven with stepper motors, and core flight controls connected to position sensing sensors.

Some real aircraft components are cost prohibitive or hazardous containing radium to convert. Our team engineers recreated many components suitable for simulator training while not sacrificing authenticity.  We achieved this by 3D printing, milling, and laser cutting to create these replica parts.

CREATION OF REPRODUCTION PARTS

Currently under development Aerocraft is consulting with Texan subject matter experts to device a suite of emergency procedures for both the T-6G and T-6D simulators.  These in their final state will range for mild anomalies, abort conditions, and catastrophic failures justifying aircraft abandonment.

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT CONSULTATION

Team Aerocraft is working closely with T-6 Texan subject matter experts to create the most realistic T-6 simulator cockpit ever devised.
